Cookie policy
Last updated 3 November 2026.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Ayahwise uses a few essential cookies to work, and one optional analytics cookie that is set only if you allow it. There are no advertising cookies, and no cookies from other companies. How we use the data itself is explained in our privacy policy.
Your choice
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics. “Essential only” and “Allow analytics” are equal choices, and nothing optional is collected until you decide. Change your choice at any time with , also at the foot of every page and in Settings. Your choice is remembered for 180 days in this browser, and we ask again if what we collect changes.
Your choice applies to the browser you made it in, so you may be asked again on another device.
The cookies we use
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
session | Essential | Keeps you signed in during a visit and protects forms against forgery. While you confirm your email address after signing up, it remembers which sign-up is yours. It also remembers your seat in a family game (so you can reconnect if your phone locks), your time zone offset for the daily quiz, and a one-way hash of your IP address and browser used to spot a stolen sign-in. | Until you close your browser |
remember_token | Essential | Keeps you signed in between visits. Set only if you tick “Keep me signed in”, and removed when you sign out. “Sign out of other devices” in Settings stops it working everywhere else. | 90 days |
aw_consent | Essential | Remembers whether you allowed analytics, so the banner does not appear on every page. | 180 days |
aw_aid | Analytics (optional) | A random identifier that groups your analytics events together. Set only after you allow analytics, and deleted as soon as you withdraw. | 180 days |
Essential cookies are allowed without consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) because the site cannot work without them. All our cookies are sent only to this site, cannot be read by the page's scripts, and are not shared with anyone.
We do not use local storage or similar technologies in your browser.
Blocking cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block essential cookies you will not be able to sign in or play a family game.
